What in the world?

In his book, How Will You Measure Your Life?, Clayton Christensen describes two different life strategies.

1) Deliberate: when you know what you want and make a plan to go accomplish it, i.e. medical school.

2) Emergent: when you use your emerging life experiences and experiments to inform the next step in your life. Each step you learn more about yourself and hopefully get a little closer to finding what fulfills you.

I definitely fall into the latter camp. Hence the name Emergent Strategy. We will see if a new name emerges over time :)

I’ve got a million ideas, a beautiful wife, and a cute as can be son. I believe that documenting our lives helps us derive meaning from our experiences and as Francis Bacon puts it, that “writing makes an exact man”. Thanks for tagging along as I document my life experiments, enjoy some gnarly sufferfest adventures, learn about being a dad and husband, and seek to love deeper and worship more.
